Switched here from my old family dentist a couple of years ago. Had my first cavity filling today—it was minor, and they didn’t freeze. Didn’t feel a thing and was over in 20 minutes. They give dentists a good name!

Excellent. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Dr Nazaran and his whole staff are professional, compassionate, more than capable and I have no “Dentist Fear Syndrome” when going there. As close to pain free dentistry as I’ve known. And they accept CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan), so Bonus. I highly recommend this dental office.

I am thrilled to share our wonderful experience at Dentist, where my son received top-notch dental care that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the staff at Dentist made us feel welcomed and at ease. They have a fantastic way of creating a warm and friendly environment that instantly put my son at ease, which is no small feat for a child who was initially nervous about visiting the dentist. The dentist and dental hygienist were incredibly patient, kind, and understanding. They took the time to explain each step of the examination and treatment process in a way that my son could understand, turning what could have been a daunting experience into an educational one. I truly appreciate the effort they put into making dental care a positive and educational journey for kids.I highly recommend Dentist to all parents seeking the best dental care for their children. Dr. Lily Shafiei

Dr. Lily Shafiei

Dr. Lily Shafiei is an experienced pediatric dentist with over 15 years of expertise. She completed a pediatric dentistry residency in 2006 and has since developed advanced behavior management skills, specializing in dental treatment for disabled, uncooperative, and highly anxious children and adults under sedation and general anesthesia in her private practice.

What Does a Pedodontist Do?

A pedodontist is specially trained to take care of the dental needs of babies, children, and teens. After finishing dental school, they go through extra training to learn about children’s behavior and growth and how to handle kids’ dental problems. This training helps them create a friendly, comfortable environment for young patients, so visits to the dentist aren’t as scary. They also learn how to treat children with special needs, ensuring every child gets the care they need.

Pediatric dental services include many treatments to keep your child’s teeth healthy, such as regular check-ups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants to protect against cavities. They also check for and treat problems like tooth decay, crooked teeth, or gum issues early on. They can handle more serious cases, too, such as dental injuries or guiding teeth to grow properly.

Types of Specialized Care for Children's Dental Health

Dental Cleanings

Dental Cleanings and Exams

Regular check-ups are essential for maintaining children’s oral health. During these visits, dentists perform professional cleanings to remove plaque and tartar, as well as thorough exams.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride can strengthen the enamel, making teeth more resistant to cavities. Pediatric dentists often apply fluoride treatments to protect children’s teeth from an early age.

Fillings dental children

Fillings

If a child develops a cavity, the dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and fill it with a tooth-colored material to restore its shape and function. Fillings prevent further decay and protect the tooth.

Pulpotomy

Often referred to as a “baby root canal,” this procedure is used when tooth decay affects the inner pulp of a baby tooth. The infected pulp is removed, and the remaining healthy portion is protected.

Orthodontic children

Orthodontic Treatments

Pediatric dentists monitor the alignment of children’s teeth and jaws as they grow. Early orthodontic treatments can identify any potential issues, such as overcrowding or bite problems.

How to Prepare Your Child for Their First Dental Visit

As mentioned earlier, early dental visits are vital for children. Moreover, their first dental visit experience can build their whole perception of dentistry. Therefore, it’s crucial to prepare them beforehand to make sure everything will go perfectly during their visit. So, before visiting their pedodontist:

How Much Do Pediatric Dentistry Services Cost?

FAQs

Answered by our Newmarket Pedodontist

A pedodontist, or pediatric dentist, is a dentist trained to care for babies, children, and teens. They get extra training to learn about children’s behavior, growth, and how to treat young patients. General dentists, however, treat patients of all ages. Pediatric dentists focus on children’s dental needs and make sure their visits are comfortable and child-friendly.

It is recommended to schedule your child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first tooth emerges, whichever comes first. Early visits help establish a dental home, allowing the dentist to monitor your child’s oral development and provide tips on proper dental care habits.
Because of the specialized training and child-focused environment that pediatric dentists provide, pediatric dentistry services may be slightly more expensive. However, the costs can vary based on the specific treatments needed, location, and insurance coverage.
They use different techniques to create a comfortable and positive environment, such as using gentle language and distraction techniques. Many pediatric dentists also include games and interesting toys in their visits to help children feel more comfortable and relaxed.
