Apart from his dental practice, Dr. Shokati is an active scholarly figure. He serves as a prominant researcher in prosthodontics and the coordinator of Undergraduate Biomaterials Science courses in University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. He has published 8 articles and 5 abstracts in peer-reviewed journals.

He is currently conducting an ongoing clinical study titled: “Long-Term Complications Associated with Implant-Supported Complete Fixed Dental Prosthesis”. This study investigates the clinical outcomes of classic hybrid bridges in the first group of implant patients treated by Professors Brånemark, G. Zarb and their surgical/prosthetic teams. The study is conducted at the Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto.
