Prosthodontist Specialist - U of T instructor
Dr. Babak Shokati is a Canadian board-certified specialist in Prosthodontics. He received his dental degree in 1998 and practiced general dentistry for several years before pursuing post-graduate education in Dental Biomaterials and Prosthodontics. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Dental Biomaterials from the University of Toronto in 2007.
After successfully completing Dental Biomaterials program, he started his post-graduate training in the specialty of Prosthodontics at the University of Toronto. He received his Masters Degree in Prosthodontics from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. Immediately after graduation from the Prosthodontics specialty program, he served as a Prosthodontic instructor in the undergraduate clinic at the Faculty of Dentistry.
He is conducting an ongoing clinical study titled: “Long-Term Complications Associated with Implant-Supported Complete Fixed Dental Prosthesis”. This study investigates the clinical outcomes of classic hybrid bridges in the first group of implant patients treated by Professors Brånemark, G. Zarb and their surgical/prosthetic teams. The study is conducted at the Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto.
Dr. Shokati is currently the coordinator of Undergraduate Biomaterials Science courses, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto He has published 8 articles and 5 abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Shokati is a Fellow of the Royal College of the Dentists of Canada (FRCDC) and a member of the Royal College of the Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
Dr. Shokati practices as a Prosthodontist with focus on full mouth reconstructions, dental implant surgery, implant prosthetics and management of prosthetic and implant complications.
